WINDSOR—Windsor police on Monday continued to investigate an elderly man who allegedly assaulted an elderly woman in the Alzheimer’s ward of a nursing home.

Police Chief Vic Reynolds said on Tuesday he will consult with the Isle of Wight County Commonwealth’s Office on the possibility of charges.

“At this point, we will be presenting information,” Reynolds said. “It’s a complicated matter.”

The alleged Saturday assault took place in the victim’s room at Consulate Health Care of Windsor on Courthouse Highway, he said.

According to Reynolds, the man entered the victim’s room and assaulted her in bed. The woman suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk.

An employee reported the alleged assault.

The suspect was taken to a facility that can cater more to his needs, he said.
