Another opportunity for Scott

It’s hard to understand why former professional football player Greg Scott is not a finalist for the head football-coaching job at Southampton High School.

A 1998 Southampton High graduate, Scott it seems would’ve been a perfect fit being a prodigy under retired 22-year veteran coach Littleton Parker.

Maybe Scott could serve as an assistant coach.

His experience of playing football for Hampton University, the Washington Redskins and Cincinnati Bengals means he has the intricate knowledge of the game to take others to higher level. He’s also played under some of the nation’s top coaches.

Scott has said he would re-apply, given the opportunity, which shows he has an interest in the program’s future.

If the Southampton School Board does not consider an assistant position for Scott, it is our hope that the new football coach will. What an exceptional person Scott would be to mentor our youth.
