FRANKLIN—At least three parties have inquired about the former Herman’s Boot Factory building on Armory Drive, which goes up for auction Thursday, Feb. 14.

“I’ve received calls from brokers in Hampton Roads and Richmond,” said Amanda Jarratt, president and chief executive officer of the Franklin Southampton Economic Development Inc.

Jarratt said none told her who they represented.

“They didn’t share. But I hope it’s a successful auction,” she said. “It’s a prime piece of property.”

The 156,000-square-foot building will be included in AuctionAdvisors’ online auction. Located next to Walgreens, the building and 16 acres are assessed at $1 million.

Records show 1101 Armory Drive LLC owns the property, and the tax bill goes to David DiPalo of Norfolk. The owner is hoping for at least $1 million.

While nearly $11,000 in taxes is owed from 2011 and 2012, the company has said the new owner would not have to pay that debt.

Constructed in 1954, the building also has housed companies for packaging, paper and storage. From 2001 to mid-2012, Integrated Plastics made rubber trashcans from that location, which is zoned as light industrial for manufacturing.
