ZUNI–John Alex Munford Sr. 91, longtime Southampton County farmer and widower of Iva Goodrich Munford, passed away Saturday, February 09, 2013.

Mr. Munford was a son of the late E.E. and Ruth Bradshaw Munford and was predeceased by his granddaughter, Naomi Munford Russ; grandson, David Hansel “Hans” Munford; one brother, A.J. Munford; and four sisters, Violet Goodrich, Lafayette Dowdy, Mary Lee Munford and Dollie Munford.

He is survived by his two sons, John A. Munford Jr. and wife Patty and Thurman Munford and wife Martha; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013, at Black Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Kitts and Rev. Larry Cribb officiating. The burial will follow in Black Creek Cemetery.

There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
