FRANKLIN—Samuel Ray Raiford, 64, passed away February 1, 2013.

Sammy was born in Franklin and was a member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church in Sedley.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and an architectural draftsman.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Kay Forrest Raiford; his mother, Marie Simms Raiford of Courtland; two daughters, Heather R. Halstead and husband Pavel of Franklin and Jill R. Bearse and husband Aris of Richmond; three grandchildren, Caroline Bearse, Sam Bearse and Lucy Halstead; one sister, Mary Lou Bryant and husband David of Courtland; one brother, Edward Lee Raiford and wife Larue of Nags Head and several special nieces and nephews.

Sammy was predeceased by his father, Vernon Lee Raiford.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Rita Kanten and the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating.

The burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery in Sedley.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral (1 p.m.) at the funeral home.
