Cathy D. Lawrence

FRANKLIN—Cathy D. Lawrence of Roosevelt Avenue was called home to be with the Lord January 27, 2013.

She was born on May 5, 1960, the second daughter of Rubie C. Lawrence and the late Johnnie Lawrence.

She was a lifetime resident of Camptown in Isle of Wight County, Va.

Cathy was a member of East End Church of God where she served as an usher and a member of Children’s Church Ministry.

Her love for children was displayed through the child care she provided to the surrounding area for 25 years.

Cathy enjoyed reading, listening to gospel music and writing in her journal.

She graduated from Windsor High School in 1979 and attended Paul D. Camp Community College.

She is survived by her mother, Rubie C. Lawrence; sisters, Marie A. Lawrence and Johnesta L. Blount and her husband, Jesse; one aunt, Rebie Perry; uncles, Rudolph Lawrence and his wife, Martha, Herman Lawrence and his wife, Hilda, and James Chambliss; one niece, Kenyta A. Blount; and nephew, Benjamin J. Blount. She also leaves to cherish her memory cousins, many caring friends and her best friend from elementary school, Dianne Doles.

A homegoing service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013, at 1 p.m. at East End Church of God, 410 East Street, Franklin, Va., with the pastor, Bishop S.D. Willis, delivering the message of comfort.

On the day of service, her remains will be placed in church for viewing by 11 a.m. The interment is in Southview Cemetery.

A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons, Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin, Va.
