Shirley Louise Futrell

COURTLAND—On Wednesday, January 23, 2013, God called home on of His faithful servants, Mrs. Shirley Louise Futrell.

A dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, ending her earthly journey.

She was born on October 22, 1948, in Southampton County, Virginia, and departed this life at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Virginia.

She was the daughter of the late Armstead Fisher Sr. and Gracie Louise Blunt. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ersula Younger.

She attended Southampton County Public Schools and was united in marriage to Nathaniel Futrell. To this union, two sons were born, Terry Futrell and Jerry Futrell.

At an early age she was baptized and became a member of Galilee Baptist Church. Later in life, she moved her membership to Odom Chapel Baptist Church in Newsome, Virginia, and then on to Rose of Sharon Worship Center where she remained a faithful servant unto the Lord, Deaconess Shirley Futrell.

Shirley worked at Narricot Industry for 31 years until her health began to fail.

She was devoted to her family, friends and church. She was well known and loved by everyone who knew her. Shirley you will be greatly missed.

Her spirit leaves today and forever in the hearts of her husband for 50 years, Nathaniel Futrell; her sons, Terry Futrell and Jerry Futrell (Tameka) of Courtland, Va.; two sisters, Alice Cartwright and Clementine Marsha (William) of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, Pastor Armstead Fisher Jr. (Gwendolyn) and Antonio Fisher (Stephanie), both of Norfolk, Va.; six grandchildren; one aunt, Ida Sue Hailey of Philadelphia, Pa.; six sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also a very special daughter, Lynn Futrell.

A funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 29, at Greater El-Bethel Deliverance Center in Suffolk, Va. Burial will follow at Odom Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Newsoms, Va.
