SEBRELL—The Sebrell Civic Club has rescheduled Friday’s auction to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2.
“It’s the first time in memory that the auction has been canceled for inclement weather,” said club member and event organizer Bruce Phillips.
The club postponed the auction after Friday’s 2 to 3 inches of snow created hazardous driving conditions, yet still served dinner to about 75 people.
“We were very gratified,” Phillips said. “We were sitting there with food to feed 200 to 300. We had it cooked.”
For Saturday, the club from 5 to 7 p.m. will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue, French fries and desserts. A plate will be $6. Auctioneer Joe Gray will conduct the sale, which will include new fishing and related equipment given to the club by an anonymous donor; the club did not plan to offer everything at this year’s auction.
“We’re going to try to get a couple more loads of sporting goods in,” Phillips said, noting they sold 20 to 30 pairs of boots on Friday.
