SEBRELL—New fishing and related equipment will be offered during the Sebrell Civic Club’s 58th annual Fundraising Auction today, Jan. 25.

The equipment was given to the club by an anonymous donor, said Club President Buster Cutright. Not all will be offered for this year’s auction.

“There’s lots of different stuff. We’re going to spread it out,” Cutright said.

Fishing rods and reels, camouflage waders, coveralls, boots and more were donated by the individual, said auction organizer Bruce Phillips, who is also a club member.

“He’s cleaning out,” Phillips said. “The club appreciates it and he appreciates working with the civic club. He has been a friend to the club for years.”

“He knows the members of the club,” Cutright added.

The civic club hopes to raise $8,000 to $9,000, Phillips said. Proceeds will go toward a $500 scholarship awarded annually to a college-bound high school graduate, residents in need, community projects and maintaining the club’s building on Route 35, where the auction will be held.

Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and feature barbecue pork and chicken, Brunswick stew, side dishes and desserts. Dinners are $8 and combination plates are $9. Takeouts will be available.

The auction, which will include other items, will follow at 7.

There also will be a ham and $100 raffle. Tickets will be available at the door.
