FRANKLIN—Western Tidewater could see up to two to three inches of snow between Thursday night and Friday morning, according to meteorologist Jeff Orrock with the National Weather Service in Wakefield.

“The major factors against any major accumulation is the fact that the ground is still rather warm and wet from all the recent rain,” Orrock said.

The chance of snow will increase after midnight when the temperatures are expected to drop to 32.

Orrock expects the snow to accumulate in the grassy areas, but not on major roads because they will be wet.

“Motorist should watch out for bridges especially during the morning commute. Also back roads could have a slushy accumulation overnight so be mindful,” he said.

Temperatures will begin to warm above freezing by 10 a.m. Friday, when the chance of precipitation also decreases.
