Hats off to the Virginia Unemployment Commission and Ruth Camp Campbell Memorial Library in Franklin for hosting Green Mountain Coffee Roasters for its Thursday Franklin Job Club meeting.

The event at the library in Franklin attracted some 150 folks looking for jobs with the Windsor production and distribution site at the Shirley T. Holland Intermodal Park on Route 460. Green Mountain over a year ago came here with the promise of creating 800 jobs for making single-serve portion K-cup packets for the Keurig brewing system.

Other than a job fair in Suffolk last spring, we understand potential employees have been asked to go to the company website to apply for positions. We all know how frustrating that can be, especially when you apply and don’t hear a word — sometimes for months.

The Franklin Job Club event allowed residents to meet with Green Mountain officials face to face and receive applications. Let’s hope that some of these folks can now land jobs with the company.
