SUFFOLK—Mr. William “Buddy” Jones Sr. of Forks of the River Road, Franklin, Va., departed this life on January 7, 2013, while a patient in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va.

He was born April 18, 1933 in Southampton County, Va.

Many years ago, he was employed with the City of Franklin. In 1982, “Buddy” retired from Union Camp Corporation due to declining health.

He was a member of Mt. Calvary Memorial Baptist Church until the church closed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie L. Jones and wife, Louise B. Jones.

He is survived by three daughters, Joyce Johnson (Forrest), Sheila Dawson (Pernell) and Angela Buckingham (Robert); four sons, William Jones Jr. (Pamela), Rudolph Fiers (Sabrina), Edgar Jones and Danny Jones; sisters; brothers; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

A homegoing service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Tabernacle of Holiness Church, 408 North Franklin Street, Franklin, Va., with the pastor, Bishop Joseph Tubbs delivering the message of comfort.

The committal and benediction is in Southview Cemetery.
