SEVERN, N.C.—Lorice Fogelman Britt, 87, widow of John “Jack” Sherrod Britt, passed away January 8, 2013, at Courtland Healthcare Center.

She was born in Union, S.C., a daughter of the late Thomas Walter and Freda Coggins Fogleman and was predeceased by two sisters, Jewel Yow and Audrey Stapleton.

She was a graduate of Mars Hill College and Wake Forest University.

A former teacher, Mrs. Britt had taught at Kings Mountain, Severn, Murfreesboro, and the Chowan University Upward Bound Program.

She was a member of the Severn Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member and GA Leader.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Denise Britt Helms and husband, David, and two sons, J. Sherrod Britt Jr. and wife, Debbie, and Tommy Britt, and wife, Christy, all of Severn; nine grandchildren, Kristie Burns, Emily Williams, Beth Bland, Dave Helms, Sarah Wells, Michelle Britt, Devin Britt, Celena Pope and Alana Pope; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Severn Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Severn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, 32247 South Main Street, Boykins, Va., and suggests memorials be made to Severn Baptist Church, P.O.
