What has happened to America?

To the Editor:
Has America become the home of special interests and double standards?
If we lie to Congress, it’s a felony. If Congress lies to us, it’s politics.
The government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals, almost nothing for the victims. The public schools can teach you about homosexuality, but not God?
You can kill an unborn child, but to execute a mass murderer is wrong.
We don’t burn books in America; we rewrite them.
The communists and socialists are called “progressives.”
We cannot protect our borders with Mexico, but have no problem protecting the 38th parallel.
If you protest against President Obama, you’re a terrorist, or a racist, but you can burn the American flag or a George Bush effigy and it’s your First Amendment right.
You can have porn on your TV or Internet, but not a nativity scene in the public park during Christmas; Christmas has been eliminated in our society.
We no longer have criminals; they are now called sick people.
We can use a human fetus for medical research, but it’s wrong to use an animal.
We take money from those who work hard and penalize success, and give their money to those who don’t want to work.
We all say we support the Constitution, but only when it supports our ideology.
We have freedom of speech, but only when it’s politically correct. Parenting is a thing of the past. Parents instead want to be our “child’s friend,” or dope them up on Ritalin and video games.
The “land of opportunity” has become the “land of handouts.”
The similarity between Hurricane Katrina and the Gulf oil spill is that neither Bush nor Obama did anything.
How does the government handle a major crisis today? The government appoints a committee to determine whose fault it is, and then it threatens them, passes a law and raises our taxes to pay for it.
The government then declares “mission accomplished,” so it can get back to the campaign trail.
What has happened to America? The land of the free and the home of the brave? It doesn’t seem so?
