ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight supervisors on Thursday awarded a contract to Moody’s Virginia Environmental Solutions to offer trash pick-up to 1,800 households starting April 1.

Customers will be charged $13.61 a month, said the Eddie Wrightson, the county’s General Services Director. This is a savings of $2.64.

BFI, which currently provides the service at $16.25 per month, was among the five who submitted proposals for the contract. Others were Waste Management, Waste Industries and RDS.

“The staff believed that AVES would grow the business and increase participation of curbside collection,” said Eddie Wrightson, the county’s director of General Services. “They know the county and the people.”
