FRANKLIN—Cover 3 Foundation on Thursday received $10,000 from Walmart’s “12 Days of Giving” holiday campaign.

The Franklin-based non-profit founded by former NFL player and 2002 Southampton High School graduate Greg Scott was one of 21,000 nominated for the $10,000 grants. Cover 3 provides meals and snacks to children throughout Southampton, Greensville and Sussex counties and Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Emporia and Franklin.

The Walmart Foundation will give $1.5 million to local nonprofits across the nation this holiday.

“There are so many local nonprofits making a positive impact every day and yet, oftentimes we don’t hear enough about them or their needs,” said Sylvia Mathews Burwell, president of the Walmart Foundation. “With this campaign, we want to recognize these organizations and the difference they are making in their communities.”
