Elizabeth C. Burgess

FRANKLIN—Elizabeth Cullins Burgess, 84, passed away at her home with her family by her side on December 2, 2012.

Born in Como, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Lynn “L.C.” and Mary Hedgepeth Cullins.

She was predeceased by her sister, Pearl Manzon; three brothers, Thomas, Edward and Pete Cullins; and a grandson, Travis Paul Burgess.

Mrs. Burgess was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, George Garvey Burgess Jr.; three sons, George Garvey Burgess III and his wife, Sharon, of North Augusta, S.C., Brian McKinley Burgess and his wife, Belinda, of Prairie Grove, AK, and Kevin Paul Burgess and his wife, Karen, of Ferrum, VA; six grandchildren, Matthew Burgess, Tyler Burgess, Logan Burgess, Emily Burgess, Brenda Metcalf and Kenny Brown; and three great-granddaughters, Sophia Brown, Lillie Brown and Emma Brown.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Sycamore Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Roger Crump and the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
