COURTLAND—Virginia Ann Pope, 85, widow of Harvey Grover Pope, passed away November 26, 2012, at her home.
Born in Tappahannock, Va., she was a daughter of the late James Leonard and Rena Mitchell Mathews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth M. Hudson; a brother, Edward “Teddy” Mathews; and a granddaughter, Eliza McCaslin Pope.
Ann experienced life to the fullest and touched all her family and friends in positive ways.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Pope Hartman and her husband, Edward, of Courtland; two sons, James Mathews Pope of Warm Springs, Va., and Robert Harvey “Bobby” Pope and his wife, Carol, of Courtland; eight grandchildren, Lucas Mathews Pope, Sarah James Pope, Betsy King Pope, John Robert Pope, Michelle Marie Pope, William Manry Pope, Mercer Hudson Hartman and Harvey Mitchell Hartman; and her wonderful caregiver, Patricia Lewis.
The funeral was held 2 p.m. Thursday at Franklin Baptist Church, Franklin. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.
The family received friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and at a reception followed the burial at the Rawls Museum Arts in Courtland.
