Robert L. Dickerson

CARRSVILLE—Deacon Robert L. Dickerson of Pruden Road, Carrsville, Va., passed November 25, 2012, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

The Drewryville, Va., native was born July 18, 1918, to the late James Dickerson Sr. and Catherine S. Dickerson.

Deacon Dickerson retired from Union Camp Corp. in 1981 after 30 years of service.

He was a member and chairman of the Deacon Board at Mt. Joy Holiness Church. He also was a Trustee and Sunday School Superintendent.

Deacon Dickerson is survived by his wife, Eunice A. Dickerson of the home; three daughters, Patricia D. Mason of Franklin, Va., Sandra Joyner (Donnell) of Rich Square, N.C., and Lucille Ricks of Portsmouth, Va.; two sons, Roy Lee Dickerson, Suffolk, Va., and Rickey A. Dickerson (Joyce) of Newport News, Va.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at noon at East End Church of God, 410 East St., Franklin, Va., with Elder Lloyd Watson delivering the eulogy; Bishop S.D. Willis is pastor.

The committal and benediction will be in Southview Cemetery.

A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons, Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin, Va.
