FRANKLIN—Franklin will host George Wythe for the state Division 1 football semifinals at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Armory Field.

Top-seeded Franklin on Friday defeated AltaVista Combined School 41-11 in the quarterfinal round of the Virginia High School League Group A playoffs.

Sussex Central is also in the semifinals. Assuming Sussex Central and Franklin win on Saturday, they will face off the following week for the state title. Franklin earlier in the season defeated Sussex 62-30.
