FRANKLIN—Franklin City School Board appointed Kelley Conaway interim associate director of instruction during a Wednesday meeting.

The lead teacher for instruction for Franklin schools, Conaway replaces Beverly Rabil, who resigned in October to work for the Office of School Improvement with the Virginia Department of Education.

“We looked from within our system,” said School Board Chairwoman Edna King. “Kelley has worked in the central office 12 to 14 years alone.”

Conaway will begin her duties Monday, Nov 26, until a permanent replacement is found.

“The concerns expressed last night were that of getting the best person for that position, especially being this time of year when many people have already been hired who would have the skills for this position,” King said.
