NEWSOMS—Meherrin Elementary School on Friday for a 10th year in a row celebrated Veterans Day.

Principal Syretha Wright read the 2012 Veterans Day Proclamation from President Barack Obama, which was followed by the presentation of flags and “Pledge of Allegiance”, led by two-fifth graders.

Each class saluted veterans with songs, and several students honored the veterans with poems.

At the end of the program, veterans related to students were photographed with the family members.
