COURTLAND—A Southampton County Circuit Court jury has found a Norfolk man guilty of a murder-for-hire plot against two Franklin women and their families.
Justin Lee Condra, 28, will be sentenced Wednesday, Jan. 22. He faces up to 60 in prison for the Nov. 3, 2010, home invasion at Meadow Ridge apartments on North College Drive.
Investigators indicated the case involved gangs, narcotics trafficking and interstate firearms smuggling. Also charged were Luis Manuel Nunez, 29; David Olonzo-Marcus Powell, 24; and Desiree Elizabeth Brady, 29, all of Virginia Beach.
The police said the women came home in the early morning hours and were stopped by three armed intruders. They were held overnight and their lives were threatened. Two suspects left in the morning, and that afternoon, one of the women contacted police.
Condra was charged with two counts each of attempted capital murder and abduction, one count each of armed statutory burglary, robbery, and use of a firearm by a convicted felon.
