Floyd Jerome Thorpe, 81, died Nov. 6, 2012, at his home in Waverly.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 9, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel, 11414 General Mahone Highway.

A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond.

Mr. Thorpe and his brother, James, established Thorpe Brothers Contractors. Over 60 years, they built or remodeled a majority of the homes in Waverly.

Mr. Thorpe is survived by his wife, Rebecca; daughters Rebecca Kaye Lancaster of Waverly and Terri Michelle Barfield of Spring Grove; a brother, O. Carl Thorpe of Chesapeake; and a sister, Kitty Outlaw of Drivers.
