IOW hires director of emergency communications

ISLE OF WIGHT—Virginia “Ginger” Bailey has been named director of emergency communications for Isle of Wight County.

Bailey will oversee 911 emergency dispatch operations and will be paid $63,000 annually. She replaces Diane Jones.

Bailey worked for the Chesapeake Police Department for 12 years, including in management for the last nine years. She served as the 911 technologies and equipment coordinator/dispatch supervisor.

Bailey is an instructor with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, a SWAT tactical dispatch coordinator/trainer, a Project Lifesaver instructor and a mobile dispatch instructor.

She is a former volunteer with the Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Rescue Squad.
