Hubs deserves recognition

It was quite fun to see Lester Holt of NBC’s “The Today Show” holding a can of Hub’s peanuts during the show on Sunday morning.

Any positive publicity a local business receives from outside of our area is always appreciated, but to be seen on a national show such as “The Today Show” is amazing.

To the rest of the world, Hubs could have been a giant peanut company from just about anywhere, but to those of us who know Hubs as one of our community’s peanut companies from right up the road in the village of Sedley, it was rather inspiring.

It shows the true potential of what a small company from a rural community can become in this day and age of electronic commerce and a truly global economy.

Small yet successful businesses in our region, such as Hubs, are able to expand their reputation through word-of-mouth advertising by providing quality products and services. With these practices they are able to grow their brand beyond our county and city borders.

We’re blessed in this neck of the woods to be spoiled by having so many terrific businesses right here in our own back yard. It’s fun to see one of them be rewarded with recognition on a national stage.
