SEABOARD, N.C – No arrests reportedly have been made in connection with two weekend shooting deaths in Seaboard, N.C.

On Sunday, police were working a crime scene behind a home from a late morning shooting on East Central Street. A dead man was covered with a sheet on the railroad tracks.

The shooting comes on the heels of a Friday night break-in, in which a 17-year-old male was shot and killed.

“It’s a tragedy,” said Northampton County Sheriff Wardie Vincent.

Vincent said several homes on Pine Street on the opposite side of the railroad tracks were struck by bullets from the Sunday shooting.

Pine Street resident Dianah Boyd said she heard a series of gunshots between 10 and 11 a.m.

“It sounded like a machine gun,” Boyd said.

She estimated her home was struck 12 times. One bullet was lodged in her refrigerator while another passed through her kitchen, living room and bathroom of her trailer.

Boyd was in a back room and was not hurt.

Boyd’s sister’s home next-door and another neighbor’s home were also struck by bullets. A shattered door window was visible from Boyd’s home.
