Boykins scouts recognize firefighters

BOYKINS—Boykins Girl Scout Troop No. 5073 recently recognized Boykins Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for Fire Prevention and Safety Month.
The fire department has sponsored the group since September 1999.
“To sponsor a Girl Scout Troop, all one must do is provide a safe place for the scouts to hold their meetings,” said Leader Kisha Watford. “However, BVF&R Department has always done so much more.”
Before the scouts served dinner, Julia Hand read a poem and Chloe Pope recited the Firefighter’s Prayer.
Diamond and April Warren headed up the event. They helped present certificates to the firefighters and expressed their appreciation.
