FRANKLIN—A Franklin woman has been arrested for allegedly attempting to burn down her home, said Police Lt. Tim Whitt.

Mary Banks, 62, on Oct. 30, 2011, allegedly set paper and clothes on fire in two different locations of her home at 571 Laurel St., Whitt said. Firefighters saved the home, which was insured and remains Banks’ residence.

“After the fire was put out, evidence of the fire being intentional was collected and sent to the lab,” Whitt said.

A grand jury recently indicted Banks, who was arrested on Oct. 2.
