WINDSOR– The Windsor Dukes improved their season record to 2 -3 Friday night after crushing the Northampton Yellow Jackets 64 –8 in a non-district football game.

Windsor Coach Chuck Parrish was pleased with his Dukes after the win.

“They played well in all phases of the game,” he said. “They just played good.”

It was all Dukes as they took command of the game from the beginning and easily controlled the tempo of the whole game.

The Dukes surprised the Yellow Jackets on the opening kickoff with an onside kick that they recovered. They went on to score on that opening drive with a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Justice Chapman to Caleb Dundlow. The extra point kick by Tyler Fontenot was good for a 7 -0 lead.

The Dukes came right back and were successful on another onside kick but this time they fumbled the ball on the first offense play of the ensuing drive.

After the Dukes’ defense forced the ball over on downs, Dudlow caught his second pass on a 33-yard reception from Chapman. The Fontenot kick was good to put the Dukes up 14-0.

Following a first quarter fumble by the Yellow Jackets, Chapman connected on a 38-yard touchdown pass to Woody Greene. The Fontenot kick was good to put the score at 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter the Dukes drove to the 2-yard line before being stopped. Fontenot kicked a 19-yard field goal to push the score to 24-0.

On the next Yellow Jacket possession, the Dukes defense forced a punt, which resulted in Donovan Cosbert return of 66 yards for another Duke touchdown. The Fontenot kick was good again for a 31-0 Duke lead.

The Dukes added another touchdown before the half on a two-yard pass to Dundlow. The kick failed and the half ended with the Dukes up 37 – 0.

Entering the second half with a running clock due to the score, the Dukes coaches went to their bench, but still continued to score as they crossed the end zone on their first drive when Sharod Patterson scored on a two-yard run. The Fontenot kick was good and the Dukes improved their led to 44 – 0.

In the fourth quarter the Dukes added more scores with a 30-yard run by Jahfar Eure, the recovery by Derell Williams of a bad hike on a punt for a touchdown, and a quarterback sneak by Chad McCann for a one-yard touchdown.

The Yellow Jackets scored in the final minute of play following an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Ryan Outten. The two-point conversion was good to give the visitors eight points.

The Dukes had 124 yards on the ground and were lead by Jahfar Eure with 50 yards.

Windsor had 172 yards through the air. Of that, Dundlow had 65 yards receiving.
