WARSAW – The Rappahannock Raiders led the Franklin Broncos late in the fourth quarter until senior Travis Brown hit pay dirt with 3:27 left to seal the 31-28 win.

“It was a tough game,” said Bronco Coach Darren Parker. “It was a dog fight, but the team played well. The guys stuck together.”

Franklin gained 318 yards on the ground in the win with Brown gaining 189 yards and Marcus Stephens picking up 105.

Stephens opened the scoring for Franklin with a 42-yard run in the first quarter. The extra point was no good and the Broncos led 6-0.

Brown scored from a yard out in the second quarter and from eight yards out in the third to give Franklin a 19-0 lead, but that’s when the Raiders began to comeback.

Rappahannock scored on a 30-yard pass from Will Hoover to Aaron Rock. The kick by Rock was good to cut the lead to 19-7.

Rock added a 41-yard field goal for the Raiders later in the third that gave Franklin a 19-10 lead.

The Broncos’ Terry Warren scored on a two-yard run to give Franklin a 25-10 lead.

The Raiders’ Tyler Spear scored on a two-yard run and Rock’s kick sailed through the uprights to cut the Bronco lead to 25-17 in the fourth quarter.

A Tylek Sorrell fumble recovery for a touchdown and a pass from Hoover to Marquise Lanier for two points for the Raiders tied the game at 25.

Rock put the Raiders up 28-25 with a 37-yard field goal before Brown scored the game winner for the Broncos.
