Giuseppe “Joe” Volo

FRANKLIN—Giuseppe “Joe” Volo, 60, passed away September 19, 2012, after a courageous fight against cancer.
A native of Carini, Italy, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Angela Volo.
Joe was the owner of Pino’s Pizza in Courtland.
He had a great love for cars and soccer.
Joe never met a stranger. He was a kind and caring father, brother and friend.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 38 years, Giuseppina of Franklin; one cherished daughter, Angela (Giosue) Cataldo, and a beloved grandson, Giuseppe Francesco Cataldo of Victoria; two sisters, Caterina (Antonino) Gallina of Carini and Francesca (Salvatore) Cardinale of New York; two brothers, Pietro (Anna) Volo of Richmond and Salvatore (Fifetta) Volo of Pennsylvania; mother-in-law, Anna Taormina of New York; sisters-in-law, Angela Quattrocchi (Ciro) of New York and Maria Cracchiolo (Santino) of Pennsylvania; nieces, nephews, and many friends; and his trusted companion “Rocky.”
Joe is predeceased by his father-in-law Angelo Taormina.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1014 Clay St., Franklin, Va. Father Charles Saglio and Father Carl De Souza will be officiating.
Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 West Hundred Road, Chester, Va.
The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, 206 W. Fourth Ave., Franklin, Va., on Friday, September 21, 2012, from 7-9 p.m. where vigil prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
