FRANKLIN—A Franklin man has been charged on a federal indictment for allegedly conspiring to sell 280 grams of crack cocaine.
Charles Anthony “Ant” Haley, 44, of the 300 block of Pocahontas Avenue was arrested Monday as part of a continuing investigation into illegal drug distribution in Franklin by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Peninsula Safe Streets Task Force.
If purchased by the gram, the crack-cocaine Haley allegedly sold was worth $28,000, said Franklin Police Lt. Tim Whitt. By the ounce, it sells for $12,000.
Haley was arrested without incident on Thomas Street and taken to a federal facility in Norfolk where he was remanded to the custody of U.S. Marshals.
Prosecution will be handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
