Butler, Bradshaw win fishing tourney

FRANKLIN—The team of Jerry Bradshaw and Travis Butler won round 11 of the Three Rivers Bass Tournament Series on Sunday.

Starting at the Highway 258 boat landing on the Nottoway River, the winning team caught five bass with a total weight of 12.06 pounds. Butler had the heaviest bass of the day at 4.2 pounds.

The team of Doug Williams and David Nunnaley took second with a total weight of 11.71 pounds followed by Tommy Butler in third with a total of 9.9 pounds.

The team of Kevin Gunn and Jonathan Whitley took fourth and Billy Daniels and John Edwards placed fifth.

The club’s final tournament is Sunday, Oct. 7, to determine which teams will qualify for the Classic Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21.

“Fishing conditions are improving since the fish-kill in the fall of 2011,” said Williams, a club officer. “We expect the rivers to fully recover in one or two years.”
