CONWAY, N.C.—Emma Grant Martin, 86, “Emmie” to all who knew her, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C.

She had been preceded in death by her husband, James Martin; a brother, Joe Grant; and parents, Ulysses Grant and Janie Joyner Grant.

A native of Northampton County she was the beloved mother of six children and their families and was fondly known as a person who gave herself to all.

She retired after working for many years as a dental assistant with George E. Clark D.D.S. in Conway.

She was a member of Conway Baptist Church where she was actively involved.

Survivors include children Glenn Warren (Barbara) of Macclesfield, Joanne Bass (Cam) of Momeyer, Melinda Harris (Thad) of Littleton, Charles Martin (Jewell) of Franklin, Va., Joanne Robertson (Art) of Greenville and Jim Martin of Wilson; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday September 15, 2012, at Conway Baptist Church with Rev. James Hester and Rev. Willie McLawhorn presiding.

Burial will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends in the Church Social Hall after the service and has requested that, in lieu of flowers, any memorial gifts be directed to the “Miss Emmie Community Missions Fund,” c/o of Conway Baptist Church, P.O. Box 160, Conway, N.C., 27820.

Bridgers Funeral Home in Conway is in charge of arrangements.
