ROANOKE—James “Howard” Brown, 83, of Roanoke died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.

A funeral was held Monday at Simpson Funeral Home. Interment followed in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Brown was retired from Valleydale Meat Packers as a night shift supervisor after 35-plus years of service.

Locally, he is survived by a brother, Elbert Brown of Franklin.
