ISLE OF WIGHT—Blue skies and clear nights are in the forecast for this year’s Isle of Wight County Fair.

Highs in the low 80s and lows in the mid-60s are anticipated for the fair, which opens Thursday, Sept. 13, with Carload Night and runs through Sunday, Sept. 16, in Windsor. The chance of rain is nao more than 10 to 20 percent.

“The fair committee is ecstatic about the weather report,” said Darlene Keyt, event coordinator. “The grounds are in great condition. We couldn’t have put in a request for a better week. It’s the icing on the cake. We’ve got everything on time. The midway is being put together.”

The prelude to the fun is the fifth annual seafood festival presented by the fair committee today, Sept. 12.

“We’re busy, busy, busy,” she said. “There are lots of volunteers. Ticket sales have gone well. Last year there were about 700 attendees.”

Keyt said 50 tickets would be available for sale at the gate; 800 have been sold already. They are $50. The social hour begins at 5 p.m. with food served from 6 to 8. The Band of Oz will entertainment.

Carload Night is Thursday.

“For $30 per vehicle (limit 12), an average family of four will save $70,” said Keyt. “This includes admission and all-you-can ride rides. I cannot express enough what a deal it is. It truly is a bargain.”
