COURTLAND—As of noon Monday, a manhunt continued in the Courtland area for a man who allegedly stole a vehicle, said Major Gene Drewery with the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office.

Fifteen officers and a state police helicopter were involved in the search, Drewery said.

Officials got a call at 9:20 a.m. for a suspicious person on Flaggy Run Road outside Courtland. When a deputy arrived, he found Dennis Wynn

Paulsen

Paulsen Jr., 32, who is believed to be from Oregon, Drewery said. As the deputy spoke with Paulsen, he allegedly took off into the woods.

Deputies learned the vehicle he had belonged to Cars & Credit on Southampton Parkway outside Courtland. It had not been reported stolen, Drewery said.

Officials also learned he was wanted in Bonneville County, Idaho, for walking away from work release duty. Idaho officials do not want to extradite Paulsen, Drewery said.
