FRANKLIN—Jessie Mae Bryant Collier, 93, born August 18, 1919, in Lasker, N.C., to the late James Thomas and Ola Warren Bryant, lived a long, happy life here until she passed on to be with her Heavenly Father on August 31, 2012.

She was the devoted wife of 70 years to her late husband, Talmadge Carlyle Collier.

Her life was full of cherished memories, successful endeavors, and loving family and friends.

She was blessed with a faithful daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Earl Johnson, who added to her joy by having two daughters, Judith Johnson Hasty and Sherry Johnson Garris.

She had two wonderful grandsons-in-law, Frankie Hasty and Paul Garris.

Among those who have survived her are her seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Raegan, Kaylee, Noah, Grant, Alivia and Jenna. Jessie Mae is survived by two sisters-in-law, Lorna Bryant and Deanie Collier. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jessie Mae was predeceased by one brother, J.T. “Pete” Bryant.

Prior to the decline in her health, Jessie Mae was an active member of Franklin Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Faithful Servants Sunday School Class.

Jessie Mae had many passions that she shared with her family and friends. She was talented with her hands. Jessie Mae knitted and crocheted many blankets and sweaters, which she often gave to others.

She had a special gift in her kitchen. She was known for her famous cooking, especially her Brunswick stew and Christmas cookies.

Above all else, Jessie Mae loved her family.

Today, Jessie Mae is enjoying her eternal life with those who have passed before her. She is blessed to be in the presence of her Heavenly Father. Her family takes comfort knowing that her life is not over, rather continuing in a better place.

Her funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Franklin Baptist Church with the Reverends Brent Kimlick and Sharon James officiating. The burial will be at Southampton Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012.
