NEWSOMS—A Newsoms man has been charged with allegedly choking his live-in girlfriend at their home in the 26000 block of Ridley Road, the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Darius Leo Jennings, 34, allegedly assaulted the woman at 3 p.m. Tuesday. She did not require medical treatment, said Major Gene Drewery.

Jennings was charged with strangling another causing wounding or injury.
