OAK HILL – A kickoff return helped spark the Windsor Dukes to a 14-8 win over Arcadia in a non-district battle Friday night.

Donovan Cosbert ran back the opening kickoff for the Dukes to get things started against the Firebirds. The point-after by Tyler Fontenot was good for a 7-0 lead.

Later in the first quarter the Dukes scored on a run by Caleb Dundlow and Fontenot once again connected on the extra point to take a 14-0 lead.

The Firebirds were able to score in the second quarter before both defenses buckled down.

Windsor Coach Chuck Parrish gave credit to his defense for two big fourth-down stops in the second half and an interception by Vincent D’Terlitzi to help seal the win.

“We just held on,” he said. “We made some mistakes, but we finished the ballgame.”

Parrish said the team would work on fundamentals before next week’s game against West Point at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31 in Windsor.
