WOODLAND, N.C.—Josephine Futrell Miles passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Obici Hospital in Suffolk.

She was the wife of Walter Miles.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wilber Burden and Maggie Brett Futrell, and a brother Kenneth Futrell.

Josephine was a woman of many talents and interest.

She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and a past Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, Newsoms Woman’s Club president, Southampton High School cafeteria manager, caterer, seamstress, gardener, camper, entrepreneur and wonderful cook.

She loved and touched many people in her life.

She had four wonderful children, Tammy Gray (Mickey) of Courtland, Benjamin “Ben” Cutchins Jr. (Cathy) of Newsoms, Mary Jo Cox ( Paul) of Suffolk and Warren Cutchins (Ellen) of Newsoms. Walter’s children are Walter Miles Jr. and Jane Paul.

Her grandchildren are Brandon Gray (Nikki) , Alex Gray (Sarah), Catherine Cutchins, Mason Cox, Benjamin Cutchins, Jessie Cox, Skylar Cutchins, Michael Johnson, Chris Johnson, Jessie Paul and Dustin Paul. She had one great-grandson, Mitchell Gray. She is the sister of Wayne (Bessie) and Jimmy (Jane) Futrell, both of Murfreesboro, and Christie Hofmann (Joseph) of New Bern, N.C. She had many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved very much.

The family will receive friends and family at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., on Thursday, August 16, 2012, from 6 to 8pm. Graveside service will be at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland, N.C., at 11a.m. Friday, August 17, 2012.

Family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.
