Hattie Harris Williams

First Lady Hattie Harris Williams of Delk Street, Franklin, Va., departed this life to claim her eternal reward on August 13, 2012.

She was born October 17, 1932, to Jimmy and Bertha C. Harris in Franklin, Va.

Hattie graduated from Hayden High School in 1953 and was married to Bishop John R. Williams Sr.

She was a member of New St. John Community Church where she was First Lady, a Sunday school teacher and in the Women’s Ministry. She was also a member of the Apostolic Faith Convention as Registration Chairperson and she served as Middle District Secretary for 32 years.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Her memory will live forever in the hearts of three daughters, Pastor Cynthia W. Brodie (Reginald) of Franklin, Va., Lenette W. Andrews (Jimmie) and Minister Gail W. Brown (Bishop James) of Richmond, Va.; one son, Elder John Williams Jr. of Summerville, SC; one sister, Catherine Cross (Bishop Richard); three brothers, Glenn Harris (Mildred), David Harris (Hattie) and James Harris; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great aunt, Fannie Lucas; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the East End Church of God, 410 East St., Franklin, Va., where Bishop S.D. Willis is pastor.

The committal and benediction will be held in Southampton Memorial Park.
