What a great event the Girl Scouts hosted at Camp Darden in Franklin on Aug. 4.
To celebrate the organization’s 100th anniversary, the scouts hosted a reunion for all of its campers from bygone years. Women ranging from young to old shared their memories from their camp days.
Girl Scout camp is a wonderful opportunity. It teaches girls independence, responsibility and social skills. Girls participate in crafts, swimming, hiking, boating, campfires and so much more.
Girls also form lasting and sometimes lifelong friendships with other campers. They may see each other only once a year at camp, but when they do, it doesn’t take long to rekindle those friendships.
So, thanks to the Colonial Coast Girl Scouts for providing camps for our youth and hosting the reunion.
