COURTLAND—A Courtland man wants to change the way mechanics do business by bringing the shop to his customers.

Ed O’Donnell’s new mobile mechanic business, Ed’s Repair, does everything from oil changes to engine or transmission swaps on automobiles, heavy equipment and tractors.

“If you get broke down, I will do everything I can to get you back on the road,” O’Donnell said.

The 29-year-old’s goal is fulfill his and his father, Steve O’Donnell’s dream by also opening his own shop.

“My father turned wrenches half his life and never got to fulfill his dream,” Ed O’Donnell said.

Tiffany O’Donnell said her husband went this route to be different than other certified mechanics.

“He’s been in the profession and worked different places and has seen how it was,” she said.

Ed O’Donnell, a 2001 Southampton High School graduate, studied auto mechanics at Advanced Technology Institute in Virginia Beach.

He works on heavy equipment at Nansemond River Contractors in Chesapeake.
