We were excited to hear this week that The Children’s Center in Franklin will create 95 jobs.

That’s a tremendous opportunity for a lot of people.

Some of the positions will require specific skills or a college education, while others will not.

A sampling of who the nonprofit is looking for includes a purchasing analyst, who would be paid $17,987 to $29,855 annually, early childhood mentor at $26,035 to $40,534, transportation coordinator at $22,911 to $37,058, administrative professional at $15,080 to $23,003, custodians at $15,621 to $23,162, teachers at $16,662 to $27,794, and bus drivers, bus monitors and cooks at $15,080 to $22,003.

The Children’s Center, which also provides childcare and early intervention and therapy services for young children with developmental delays or disabilities, needs the additional employees to carry out a $2.3 million contract to administer the Head Start program for 300 children in Franklin, Suffolk, Smithfield and Courtland. Head Start serves 3- to 5-year-olds from low-income families with free educational, health, nutritional, social and other services.

If interested, a job fair will be held 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Regional Workforce Development Center at Paul D. Camp Community College.
