Louise Lilly Barrett

Louise Lilly Barrett, 89, widow of Harry Grover Barrett Jr. passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.

She was born in Homeville, Va., to the late Claude Clifford Lilly Sr. and Ethel Blood Lilly and was predeceased by a brother, Claude C. Lilly Jr.

Mrs. Barrett was a graduate of Mary Washington College and a former teacher at Courtland and Suffolk High Schools.

She was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou Smith and husband, David, of Cary, N.C.; two sons, Grover Barrett and wife, Terry, of Richmond, Va., and Carter Barrett and wife, Martha of Poquoson, Va.; one brother, Dr. John L. Lilly of Williamsburg, Va.; nine grandchildren, Jackie S. Jenkins and husband, Adam, Rebecca Smith, Jonathan and Emma Barrett, Darden Barrett, Grey, Anne and Mellie Ligon, and Elizabeth L. Parisher and husband, Jimmy.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Barnes United Methodist Church, 32000 Statesville Road, Newsoms, Va., with the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, Va.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Wright Funeral Home, 206 W. 4th Ave., Franklin, Va., 23851.
