FRANKLIN—Simply Distributing vacuum sales has opened at 115 N. High St. in downtown Franklin at the previous location for New Life Resale Boutique.

Owner Abdul Parker has been with Kirby Vacuums for 15 years and spent most of his career in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. He started his business in Franklin because he used to work in this area.

He named the business after a motto.

“I didn’t want to just throw up the sign Kirby,” Parker said. “It’s not very descriptive of what we do, which is more than just selling Kirby vacuums. What we do isn’t easy, but it is simple.”

Simply Distributing introduces people to door-to-door sales. The business trains employees for three to four days, teaching them to get people to listen to their pitch in hopes of making a sale. After training, they are split into teams of three or four and sent out with a team leader. After a 30-day trial run, they work entirely off commission.

“Interest in the program has been blessed,” said Parker. “We haven’t even finished putting the signs on the glass outside and we already have a lot of people involved.”

Simply Distributing has three employees, but dozens of salesmen get their inventory from the store.
