WAVERLY—Richard E. Hinkle, 78, of Waverly died June 21, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Richmond.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home followed by a service at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at 3 p.m., Sept. 5, in Arlington National Cemetery.

Mr. Hinkle was a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1986 with the rank of chief petty officer.
