ISLE OF WIGHT—The Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office on Friday filed a warrant for a man wanted for the alleged theft of a peanut trailer.

Holdsworth

Andrew Johnson Holdsworth Jr., 23, whose last known address was Waverly, may be wanted for stealing three similar trailers in Southampton and Surry counties, said Capt. Rick Gaddis with the IOW Sheriff’s Office.

Johnson between June 25 and Tuesday hitched a trailer to a pickup to steal it from the Crocker Farm in the 13300 block of Foursquare Road in Isle of Wight, Gaddis said. Johnson allegedly sold it to Carrollton Metals on Brewers Neck Boulevard on Wednesday.

“By law, someone who (sells something) has to show a driver’s license or some sort of identification so it can be sold as scrap,” Gaddis said.

Three more peanut trailers were found at Carrollton metals, Gaddis said. One was identified as belonging to a farmer in Surry, for which a warrant was to be issued, he said.

“Southampton is pursuing their case, but I’m not sure where that is,” Gaddis said.

It’s believed Johnson has an accomplice.
